Our client approached us to design an addition to and renovate the existing cottage. The interesting challenge of this design was how to marry a unique exterior envelope with new. The wood shingled roof of the existing cottage, for the most part, formed the exterior walls, and needed a delicate design approach. The result is a marriage of new and existing, that compliment each other.
Cottages provide amazing opportunities not only to source natural local materials, take advantage of beautiful surroundings, but nowadays, they have become secondary homes. Places that provide opportunities to getaway and gather with family and friends.
